Symphony Math

Symphony Math

Symphony Math is designed to help students develop a strong mathematical foundation in terms of concepts and applications. The program provides an opportunity for young students to develop and practice important mathematical ideas such as:

  • number conceptualization;
  • one-to-one correspondence; and
  • part-to-whole relations.

Symphony Math extends these important ideas to math operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, and understanding of place value.

Symphony Math is intended primarily for kindergarten through third grade students. The program can also be used with older students who struggle with math because they have yet to develop a solid conceptual foundation in mathematical reasoning. Symphony Math is based upon research in the fields of Cognitive Development and Mathematics Education.

Mapleton Elementary 3rd to 5th grade students work in the Symphony Math Program in the Intervention Computer Lab for 30 minutes 3-4 days each week . Students work independently through  8 "Stages".  The Intervention Lab Coordinator monitors students' daily work and progress.  Teachers and parents receive print-outs of each student's performance.
