My name is Joy Larrison and this is my ninth full year teaching at Mapleton. I am so excited to have the opportunity to spend my day "in the life of a first grader." Each day is designed using a different blue print with my students being the architects! Over the course of my teaching career, I have also had the privilege of teaching third and fourth grades. When I am not busy teaching (or actually being taught by my students), I enjoy spending time with those that I love, whether it is a person or furry friend.
I graduated from Morehead State University with my bachelors in elementary education. I also obtained a masters degree in reading and writing, and a Rank I of Director of Pupil Personnel. Before I ventured off to college, I attended Powell County High where I made many wonderful memories!
I am so excited to have the opportunity once again this year to teach with Mrs. Hall. I will be teaching reading, grammar, spelling, and writing. Mrs. Hall will be teaching math, science, and social studies. We are dedicated to ensuring that each child has a loving and safe learning environment!
When I am not busy planning the school week, I love to spend time with my family. My favorite thing to do is spoil my two nieces and nephew! I also love to hang out with all of my animals, go to the lake, and ride my dirt bike.
I am looking forward to what this year holds and can’t wait to see how much each child grows! Teaching is such a rewarding job, and I am so lucky to have this honor! Let’s make this a fantastic year!
