Principal's Message

Dear Mapleton,

Welcome back Mapleton Eagles and families! I hope this message finds you refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready for a new school year! We are anxiously awaiting your return on Thursday, August 12th ! I would like to extend my gratitude to the staff, students, parents, and community members of Mapleton Elementary for assisting with the smooth transition from assistant principal to principal. I am truly honored to serve the Mapleton community and look forward to building lasting relationships with each of you.

Along with teachers and staff, I will work hard to continue the legacy of success established by Mapleton. We are committed to ensuring that all students are given every possible opportunity to thrive and succeed. In preparation for the new school year, teachers have attended professional development that will enhance instructional practices and prepare us for a new year of learning. During the 2021-2022 school year, our focus will be on resetting academic expectations, building foundations for social/emotional supports, using data to drive instruction, and providing consistent implementation of the curriculum to increase student achievement. Our team will continue to embed critical thinking and collaboration across all content areas. We will also continue working diligently to meet the diverse needs of our students through small group instruction and intervention supports.

Partnering with families is vital for the success of each student. We value your opinions and look forward to hearing your feedback. We invite you to become an active participant in our school community through volunteering, joining our PTO, or attending and supporting school events. PTO will have an informational booth set up at Open House. Dates and information will be sent in our school and classroom newsletters weekly. We will also use other outlets to communicate important information throughout the school year. These include; Bright Arrow one-call services, Mapleton’s website and social media accounts, student agenda books, as well as class Dojo and Remind applications.

We are pleased to announce new teacher and administration additions to our Mapleton family. Please help us welcome Mr. Luke Toy as our new assistant principal! Mrs. Lori Donaldson will be teaching third grade, Ms. Kelsey Grossman will be teaching fifth grade, and Ms. Cora Kretzer and Ms. Caitlyn Mullins will be joining us in first grade.

Mapleton 2021-2022 School Theme: (under the sea) “Mapleton Elementary: SEA us Grow!”

Trust, communication, and collaboration are all needed to continue to build a positive and successful school culture. Most importantly, all students need to feel loved, valued, and supported as they grow as individuals throughout their elementary journey. As your principal, it is important to me that everyone who enters our school-teachers, students, and parents-are welcomed with excitement! Here, we can meet the challenges of growth for every student in a positive, fun, and nurturing environment.

My door is always open and I welcome your input. Please feel free to call or email me to discuss any concerns you might have throughout the school year. 859-497-8752.

I look forward to meeting you at Open House.
