Principal's Message

CHRISTOPHER BARNETT
PRINCIPAL

We want to welcome our wonderful students and families back to another amazing year here at MSE!

As your principal, I am excitedly anticipating welcoming back our students to a new school year on August 11, but also to meet our parents, families, and community at our Open House on Monday, August 9. I am looking forward to seeing again those I already know, and to meeting those new faces I have not had the privilege to yet meet.  MSE, throughout the last couple of years as an entire community, has worked relentlessly to continue supporting our students to achieve at high levels. This same remarkable community of teachers, parents, and families has rallied to ensure they had opportunities that, while different from years past, helped to make the year a successful and engaging one. We know that working together as a community is vital to our students’ success and essential for their growth. Our commitment to our students has always been our top priority and will continue to be unwavering throughout this new year. We realize how fortunate we are to be able to serve our students and families and are anticipating great things for the 2022-23 school year.

We have a few new faces at MSE this year. We welcome a new FRC Center Coordinator, Ms. Hope Johnson to our team and you will have the opportunity to meet her in the coming weeks. We also are welcoming: Ms. Megan Pennington to 3rd grade, Ms. Madi Abbott to 5th grade, and returning to us as FRC Center Assistant, Mrs. Amy Lewis who joined us mid-year last school year. Just as the last two years, the school day will start at 7:40 am and will end at 2:55 pm. Our day will begin with classroom Morning Meetings to help our students become acclimated to a new school year and to enhance relationship building among our school community. Our front office staff remains the same, so Mrs. Belinda Newsome will continue to be the cheerful voice at the other end of the line when you call. Mrs. Sara Beth Mays continues to be our school counselor, and Mrs. Tawny Neal, our attendance clerk. Mrs. Kim Henson will be joining our front office staff as our school nurse. We are all available to assist and are ready to serve our MSE community.

Our theme for this year will be "Lights, Camera, Action… MSE is Ready for Action". We are fortunate to have a school community that spotlights the achievements of those we serve and that will continue this next year as well. We will also be continuing with our school anchors, or PAWSitive Principles we developed two years ago.  These are the qualities that our MSE staff and students exemplify daily and are reminded of them each morning on the announcements. They are: Have a Positive Attitude, Act Kindly, Make Wise Choices, and Be Safe. We will also be continuing our commitment to service learning. We, the community here at MSE, will always model for others a passion and commitment to the Golden Rule and will serve others and be an example for all. We will continue to communicate with our families regularly through our website and Facebook page as well as through the use of BrightArrow, our mass notification system.

We pride ourselves on not simply communicating, but rather connecting with our community. Please feel free to contact us at any time you have a question and let us know how we can serve you better.

Sincerely,

Christopher R. Barnett, Principal
