Welcome Back Mount Sterling Elementary Families!

We hope you had a fantastic summer and had the opportunity to make wonderful memories with your families. We are excited about a new year and new beginnings. With each new year, we continue the traditions of old and incorporate new and exciting ideas.

This year our theme is “The Greatest School on Earth.” This will include all things circus. We hope you will join us on Monday, August 12 for our Open House. Preschool AM session students are welcome to visit from 5:00-6:00 PM and PM session students can visit from 6:00-7:00. For our kindergarten through fifth grade students, we welcome you from 5:00-7:00 PM. We have many fun things planned for the evening. This will be an opportunity for you to meet your child’s teacher and tour the building. We also want you to join us on the evening of August 16 at 6:30 PM for a family movie night featuring “The Greatest Showman” on the big screen in our gymnasium.

We are welcoming a couple of new staff members to MSE, we welcome back Shaniqua Andrews to our fifth grade team and Hanna Calamusa to our second grade team. Additionally, we welcome Haley Rogers, our new speech pathologist. We know each of these ladies will be wonderful additions to our family.

As always, MSE will continue with our efforts to create servant leaders within our school. We will continue our monthly service learning projects, most of which are ideas submitted by students. We hope to articulate to our students that we can give back to others in many ways. We want our students to understand that it’s not always a financial or tangible donation. We can give with our gifts, talents and time. Our staff prides ourselves on modeling this behavior for our students.

We will also be participating in our annual Boosterthon Fun Run, which will be hosted soon after school starts, our annual fall festival and a host of new events. These events are fun for students and families and help to provide us with resources and opportunities for students. This year we have two main goals in mind. One, to provide SKATE TIME for all students. This is a five week long program where students learn to skate and have the opportunity to practice in the gymnasium during P.E. classes. Additionally, we hope to put more technology in the hands of our students.

One of the most exciting additions to our school this year is our new playground equipment. Thanks to a successful Fun Run and the incredible support of our MSE families, we have been able to purchase 4 new items for our playground that students are sure to enjoy.

We can’t wait to welcome you back with open arms to a school where we believe in ALL students, we believe ALL students can succeed at high levels and where ALL students belong.
