My name is Stephanie Harris, and I am extremely excited about beginning my first year as the principal of Mapleton Elementary. Although this is my first year as a principal, I am starting my twelfth year in education and am ready to embark on this wonderful new journey!
Mapleton Elementary will continue to strive for academic excellence. Our mission is “Mapleton Elementary, in partnership with the home and community, will provide a challenging academic program with a safe, caring environment and will enable all students to become self-sufficient, productive, and useful citizens.” This mission becomes reality through the collaboration of parents, community members, and staff working together to make a difference in the lives of our students.
All decisions made at Mapleton Elementary are made in the best interest of our students. It is our goal to ensure that all students meet our high academic expectations and also become happy, productive members of society. Our Site Based Decision Making council meets the second Wednesday of every month at 4:30 p.m. in our library. All are welcome and invited to attend our meetings!
There are many ways that you can become a part of the Mapleton tradition. You are always welcome to each lunch with your child. Our PTO has reorganized and will meet monthly. They have numerous ways that you can get involved and are challenging every Mapleton parent to take the “Two-Hour Pledge” which is a pledge asking all parents to commit to volunteering in some capacity at Mapleton for two hours. You can contact Robert Compton, PTO President, for more ways to get involved at robert.compton@montgomery.kyschools.us. You can also check with your teachers to see how you could volunteer in your child’s classroom. We are very thankful to have you as our partner!
Communication is essential to your child having a successful school experience. A weekly newsletter will be sent home from both the school and your child’s teacher. Please check backpacks each night, stay in touch with teachers, and attend school events when possible. Feel free to contact me to discuss your child’s progress, or if I can help you in any way. Working together we help your child reach his/her fullest potential!
Happily Serving Mapleton Students!
