Principal's Message

Thank you for visiting the Montgomery County Intermediate School’s website.  Much like our building itself, this page is still under construction, so keep coming back; you’ll find something new posted frequently!

I am incredibly excited about the upcoming year, which marks the opening of Montgomery County’s newest school!  As its flagship intermediate school, our building represents new beginnings in our distict.  In Montgomery County, we do what’s best for kids, and the building and opening of the Intermediate School is just that – what’s best for kids.

Children at the fifth and sixth grade levels are typically too mature, socially, to still be comfortable in a traditional K-5 setting.  They’ve outgrown the confines of the same place they visited for kindergarten, but aren’t quite ready to move onto the new frontier that is middle school.  Fifth and sixth graders are still children, but they’re ready for their own building.  Montgomery County Schools recognizes that, and has answered that need with a gorgeous new facility tailored to meet their needs.  Our school will not be a mini-middle school.  It’s an intermediate school designed to meet the needs of fifth and sixth graders.

All summer, we’ve been working to bring only the finest teachers to our school.  My standards are high, and I simply won’t put your child into a classroom with a teacher I wouldn’t also want to teach my own two children.  I think you’ll be immensely pleased with both the outstanding veteran teachers and newly-graduated educators that will fill our classrooms in August!  I know I’m proud of them already.

Currently, our building is still occupied by construction workers (all of whom have worked tremendously hard to make it the safest, best-built school around).  But soon, your child will be amongst the student body that will fill its hallways.  We sincerely appreciate the opportunity to educate your child, and value the support we’ll need from you to make the 2012-2013 school year the best in his or her memory.  Our goal to provide your child with a world-class education, set in a learning environment that is nurturing and engaging.  He or she deserves nothing less.

Please contact me if I can be of any service to you whatsoever, and know that I’m very excited about working with you and your student!  Thanks!
