  • SPRING BREAK CHANGE

By action of the Montgomery County Board of Education on February 24th, school WILL BE IN SESSION on Monday, March 30th; Tuesday, March 31st; and Wednesday, April 1st. At this time, school is scheduled to be closed on Thursday, April 2nd and Friday, April 3rd. The change was made due to missing 10 days of school, thus far, for inclement weather. The plan to use Spring Break for make-up days was announced by the School Board last year when the school calendar was approved. The Board has indicated that additional consideration will be given regarding the remaining two days if more inclement weather days are missed.

  • Parents/Guardians of Mapleton Students:

As many of you are already aware, Mr. Barrier has been named the new Director of Law Enforcement for Montgomery County Schools. While this is clearly an excellent choice, it has left a very important part of the Mapleton leadership team in need of a replacement for the next several months.

After much consideration, I have chosen Mr. Tom Orme, retired elementary teacher, to fill the position of SAM at Mapleton Elementary. Our SBDM Council was also in agreement with this decision, and the staff has overwhelmingly expressed their support for Mr. Orme in this capacity.

Mr. Orme has accepted this opportunity with much excitement and is looking forward to the new challenge. We know the students will miss Mr. Barrier, but he will still maintain contact with the students through his responsibilities and duties as our Director of Law Enforcement.

I hope you will join us in our support of these changes as we come closer to the end of another successful school year at Mapleton!

    Sincerely,

    Stephanie Harris, Principal
