Greetings and salutations!
My name is George Thompson and this is my first year at MCHS as a freshman english teacher and my third year overall. Some of your children may already know me because I was a substitute teacher in the county from 2011-2014. Prior to coming back to Montgomery County as a full-time teacher, I spent three years in the Clark County Public School System. I am a 1987 graduate of MCHS so this is a homecoming for me. I am looking forward to walking the halls again!
My guiding philosophy to teaching is not to GIVE students the answer, but to HELP them find the answer. I want my students to grow as self-sufficient individuals. I promote accountability and responsibility by teaching students we are all masters of our own destiny. I think students enjoy being in my class because I treat them as young adults while allowing them to be kids when the situation calls for it.
Currently, I am in my last semester at Univerisity of the Cumberlands working towards my master's degree in teaching. I have a dual certification in language arts and social studies. I have three children: Olivia (21), Trey (18) and Lexi (13). If you have questions or concerns, please contact me. Teaching our children is a team effort!
