Dear 6th Grade Families,
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to my 6th grade math classroom as well as introduce myself. My name is Josh Curtis and I am honored to be your child’s 6th grade math teacher. This is going to be such an important year for not only your child’s education but as for myself, being that this is my second year of teaching. I taught my first year at Camargo Elementary teaching 3rd grade. I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Kentucky in the fall of 2012 and have already started on my Masters degree at the University of Cumberlands as well. I coach 6th and 7th boys and girls basketball for McNabb Middle school. I love teaching and cannot wait for the year to begin!
I am looking forward to working with you and your child in reaching his or her full potential. I will strive daily to make each lesson as fun and as enriching as possible. We will have many wonderful experiences and opportunities to learn and grow in the year ahead, not only scholastically, but emotionally as well.
I believe that communication is the key to a great parent-teacher relationship. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time. You can send me a note through the agenda, email me (firstname.lastname@example.org) or call me at (859)-497-9730. I will also do my part of trying to send home a weekly newsletter to update you on what we have been doing in class once the school year begins, as well as things that are coming up.
I strongly encourage you to feel free to participate in your child’s 6th grade year as much as possible. Helping hands are always needed. Whether as a weekly volunteer, working on assessment with students, helping with field trips or class parties, or any other participation will enrich our classroom experiences.
I am looking forward to a wonderful and exciting year with you and your child!
