Hello parents and students! Welcome to my page:) I am so excited to begin a new school year. This year I am fortunate to teach one of my favorite subjects, government, through our Social Studies Survey class, as well as something fun, Psychology! I love working with children whether it be in the classroom, through athletics, or community service. I am the Y-Club and SERVE sponsor here at MCHS. We are a community service organization, and we love to volunteer our time to help others. I'm looking forward to my 9th year of teaching in the best school on the planet! This year I am also serving as the Gifted and Talented Coordinator for MCHS, as well as the Girls Bowling Coach. I'm so excited to reach more students through these new roles!
Montgomery County is home to me and there is no place I'd rather be! I graduated from MCHS in 2000. I was so happy to have the opportunity to come "home" to teach beside the very people who taught me so much, and influenced my career path in education; they are my mentors and my friends.
I attended MSU from 2000-2007, receiving my Bachelors in History, and a Masters of Arts in Teaching. Last year I finished my second Masters at Morehead State in School Administration. This fall I will complete my DPP and Supervision of Instruction certifications, and begin the Superintendent program. Of course I love teaching, but I also love learning! I understand the stresses of teens trying to juggle school, sports, and jobs, as I too am juggling. Therefore, if we work hard in class, homework will be minimal!
In 2002, I married my best friend. Jason and I have 5 children (Jacey, Jaxon, Macyn Kate, Keightley and Marlowe). Only crazy people have 5 kids. LOL! We love having a big family! We live in Jeffersonville, where our children have plenty of room to rip and run. We couldn't be happier with our decision to live our life in the country. Obviously I really love children; I'm surrounded by them 24/7. I treat my school babies just like my own babies; I love them and I want to see them ALL succeed.
In my spare time, (whatever that is!) I love to cook, shop and play golf. I'm more of a country cook, I learned everything from my Grandma. I can't wait until its cold enough to pull cream candy! My students tend to love that time of year also:) My favorite things to shop for are shoes! Can you ever have enough? And golf, well, I will play any time I get the chance, even if I'm 9 months pregnant! All the extra weight puts more power behind my swing. Haha!
I'm looking forward to another fabulous year at MCHS!
