Tammy V. Haydon
Library Media Specialist

After graduating from Montgomery County High School in 1987, earning a B.A. in Latin, a B.A. in English, and a Master's degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Kentucky, teaching English and Latin to high school students for 16 years, and achieving National Board Certification in my field, I'm now in my tenth year as MCHS Library Media Specialist.

My job is both to encourage and support students in their quest for knowledge, whether their search leads them through books or down one of the many avenues of the information highway, and to provide students with a wide variety of texts for their reading enjoyment. I enjoy reading young adult literature, because that allows me to talk with students about the books that interest them. I love being able to connect young people with books that ignite their passion for reading.

Announcements:

Food for Fines: November 15-21, 2017

Attention MCHS Students: Wednesday, November 15th, through Tuesday, November 21st, only…you’ll be able to pay your library late fees with canned food! One can of food will pay for up to $1.00 in late fees. Two cans will pay off up to $2.00, and so on. This special offer does not apply to payment for lost books…this offer applies to late fees only! Be sure to bring cans of food to the library so that we can credit your account. Take care of your late fees and help your school and community at the same time! Remember, the library is open before school, after school, and during lunch. This special, limited-time opportunity expires on November 21st. See Mrs. Haydon if you have questions.

Remember, 10th through 12th grade students must have a student ID in order to check out a book. (No ID is required to return or renew a book.) Incoming freshmen can check-out books, too. Visit the library and speak to Mrs. Haydon for more details. Always use the main entrance on summer checkout days!
