Bio: I started teaching in Montgomery County in August 2008 at McNabb Middle School as an 8th grade math teacher. I loved every minute of it and decided that 8th graders are weird and wonderful and some of the absolute best people I have ever known! In my time at McNabb, we saw some really great success in our math department. I served as Math Department Leader and we worked to design and implement a standards-based instructional approach and a comprehensive curriculum for that initiative. In 2014, I was ready for some new personal and professional challenges to keep me fresh, so I requested a transfer to our local alternative school - The Sterling School - where I currently teach. Every day is an adventure, and I absolutely love coming to work knowing that I am working with students who graduate because of their opportunities and support here at our school, that we have the ability and legal support to personalize the instruction for each and every student to meet their needs and ensure their success. The very best part of this job is the same as it was at the middle school - it's the kids - these wonderful, unique individuals who are often overlooked for one reason or another but who should never be underestimated or written off in any way. I hope that I make even a fraction of the impact on their lives as they make on mine. I will happily serve in this capacity until the Lord moves me to the next place I am needed. Besides work, I spend my time with my family - my husband and our five children - Alex, Anna, Tristan, Addy Sue & Dessie, traveling, hiking, anything outdoors, playing games, reading, sewing and more. We have a very full and fullfilling life and are oh so blessed!
