It is my pleasure to welcome you and your child to Kindergarten! I want to take this time to introduce myself as your child's teacher for the upcoming year. My name is Becky Willoughby.  I am beginning my 24th year of teaching. I am a graduate of Morehead State University with both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Elementary Education. I have a son who is a senior at MCHS.

**Be sure to check our Kindergarten Newsletter to see what is going on this week!**

Tips to help your child be successful:

*read to your child daily

*work on writing first and last name

*make sure your child can handle toileting needs him/herself (including all fasteners)

*practice recognizing letters and sounds

*practice counting objects and recognizing numbers

*practice sight words nightly

Please sign your child's agenda book and

review papers in your child's red folder each night.

Help our class win!!! We are collecting Box Tops and Cambell's soup labels! Our class goal is to collect 2,000! Please cut them out and send them in to help our class and our school!

Please work with your child on the Fry sight words that have been sent home and linked on the left. Students should be able to read them upon seeing them - without having to sound them out.

Please remember that all bus or pick up changes must be made before 2:00 pm. You can send a note in your child's folder or call the office (497-8730) if you need to make a change in your child's afternoon transportation. Make sure that all notes have your child's first and last name and are signed and dated. Including a phone number where you can be contacted is also helpful.

Birthdays!
We love to celebrate birthdays in our classroom. If you want to send in a treat for your child's birthday, please let me know at least one day in advance so that I can plan for this special treat. Also, please make sure that if you are sending in something that it can be served individually, such as cupcakes, drink pouches, or treat bags. Please do not send a sheet cake since it is much harder to serve and eat in the time that we have. Do not feel obligated to send something in. Even if you do not send in something for your child's birthday, we will do our best to make it a special day for him/her!
