Welcome to my teacher page! I am Ashley Wells and this will be my 12th year of teaching. Although I have been in the profession for quite some time every new year is just as exciting to me as the last! Teaching has long been my passion and I am grateful each day to have a job that I love and enjoy. My favorite part of teaching are the relationships. I love each and every one of "my kids." It is so awesome and amazing to see how each child that I have the honor of teaching is different than every other. Each have their own personality, likes, dislikes, experiences, families, and way of thinking. I often wonder how God makes every single person different; just an amazing gift.
I graduated in December of 2005 from Morehead State with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I immediately started my teaching career in Montgomery County at Camargo Elementary in January of 2006. During that semester I taught 5th grade Reading Intervention and also did hours of collaboration in the classroom. That opportunity allowed me to see several aspects of the teaching profession. I went on the next fall to begin my Master's Degree at MSU as a Reading/Writing Specialist and finished that degree in the summer of 2009. I continued teaching at CES for two more years before transferring to MSE. I came to MSE in Fall of 2008 and have been here since! I am very fortunate to have found a "home away from home" in Montgomery County. As life continues I intend to further my education and aspire to one day get my doctorate; the ultimate goal being to prepare (teach) new teachers for the classroom.
My family is my world and we are all very close. I have been married to my husband Eric for 8 years and we have a five year old little boy named, Dryden Cole and another little boy on the way. Dryden will be starting kindergarten this year and he is SUPER excited to be a big brother. My husband, Eric, has his own fencing and landscaping business and is blessed to stay very busy. My Dad is a retired teacher, principal, and instructional supervisor. He is now an insurance agent for Hurst Home and is (and always has been) a farmer. My mother retired from teaching but loved it so much she had to go back. She just recently retired after dedicating 48 years to the teaching profession. I also have two beautiful sisters. Brandy, the oldest, is a Pediatrician and has her own practice in Mt. Sterling. She is also the mother of my super special niece Sophie and wonderful nephew Charlie. Chy is a pharmacists and works in two different pharmacies in Rowan and Fleming Counties. Chy is the mother to my sweet Adelle and the newest addition to our family Andalyn (Andie)! God has blessed me in every facet of life!
Looking forward to a GREAT school year!!!!
