I did my undergraduate and graduate work at Eastern Kentucky University.   I also met Mr. Rush at the University.  Teaching is more than a job...  I truly LOVE teaching!  I get the biggest thrill when I see the "light bulb" switch on, and the student's  eyes brighten!
I'm so proud to announce that Mapleton was awarded the Read to Achieve Grant in February of  2017!  As a result I will continue to implement the grant according to the Sate's Protocol!  This time the grant will include kindergarten, first, and second grade students.  After four year of leading the Bluegrass Council of the
Kentucky Reading Association, I have stepped down, and now will act as an advisor to the council.  While I will continue to   promoting literacy...  It will be at a slower pace.   Become progressive in promoting literacy today by becoming a member!!!  www.kyreading.org

Greetings,
I’m thrilled to be implementing EIR program, as I will be working in the Read to Achieve position, at Mapleton this school year. In this position I will be working with students who struggle in the area of reading in First and Second Grade. The program is based upon using all the child’s senses to input and retrieve information. This continues to be a dream position for me and a challenge at the same time.
I'm pleased to report that 58.2% of my students from last semester have discontinued or no longer require my services!!
I’m also excited  to provide parent training in the area of reading as well. Please watch your newsletters for upcoming trainings this year!
