My name is Karen Mills. I am beginning my eighteenth year of teaching. I taught second grade at Nicholas County Elementary for one year and have been at Camargo Elementary for the remainder of my teaching career. I taught a self-contained third grade classroom for five years, taught both third and fourth grades for three years, fourth grade for seven years, and am very excited to begin my second year in first grade!
My husband, Brad, and I have been married for sixteen years and have two adorable sons--Cooper and Jake. When I am not teaching, I love spending time with my family, going to church, playing the piano, reading, and watching football!
I graduated from Georgetown College in 2000 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I also earned my Master's Degree in Elementary Education with a Reading/Writing Endorsement from Georgetown in 2004. In 2005, I completed my National Board Certification in the area of Literacy: Reading-Language Arts: Early/Middle Childhood and renewed that certification in 2014.
