Mrs. Wilson's News
Your child’s regular and prompt attendance at school is crucial to his/her success. Many of the Kindergarten activities involve group interaction with classmates, making it very difficult to make up work at home. Please see that your child attends everyday except in cases of illness or emergency. When your child returns from an absence, please send a note telling us the date your child was absent, nature of the illness, or a doctor’s excuse. We are required to keep notes on file for absences.
School begins at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m. We will meet your child in the cafeteria each morning before going to our classroom. If your child rides a bus, he/she will go directly from the bus to the gym, then into the cafeteria when it's time for breakfast at 7:15. If you bring your child to school and he/she will be eating breakfast at school, please arrive by 7:15 a.m. The tardy bell rings at 7:30 a.m. If your child will be eating at home, please let me know, so that we are not sending them through the breakfast line.
Your child will be given a bus tag with information regarding their method of afternoon transportation. Please make sure your child wears this tag on his/her backpack to school each morning.
This is very important!
Changes in Transportation
If you plan to pick up a child that normally rides the bus or you wish for your child to ride a different bus than usual, you must send a written note. Children often become confused and relay messages incorrectly. If no written note is received, your child will be sent home by his/her usual method of transportation. You may also call the school office and ask to have a change in transportation for that day.
Students will be going out for recess everyday unless it is raining or very cold. Please keep this in mind when helping your child to select clothing for the day. Flip-flops, cowboy boots, and dress shoes can be dangerous on the playground if your child chooses to play on climbing equipment and are not recommended.
On some occasions it will be necessary for your child to bring money to school, including lunch money. Always send money in a sealed envelope with the following information written on it:
1. Your child’s first and last name.
2. The amount of money.
3. The purpose for the money (book money, field trip money, lunch money, etc.)
4. My Name
This helps me out tremendously and reduces the likelihood of errors when keeping track of money for 24 kids.
Birthdays are special occasions for children. If your child wishes, he/she may bring treats for the class on his/her birthday. Please let me know in advance. Also, please do not send birthday party invitations to school unless the entire class has been invited. This can result in hurt feelings for those not invited.
Each day your child will bring home a school folder. Please check this daily. It will be our main source of communication. I will send notes and reminders home in the folders, and you may send me notes this way as well. We check folders daily. Also, homework assignments will be placed in folders. Please check your child’s work daily and remove from the folder unless it needs to be returned.
