Congratulations to our 2016-2017 J.B. McNabb Chess Team for getting 1st place as a team.
I just wanted to say that I am proud of the dedication and hard work of every single player on my team. Your continued perserverence to get better at the game is what allowed us to get first place and go to states. I know that this is not possible without every single one of you giving it your all. As we advance to the State Chess Tournament I want everyone to know that you have done a wonderful job and regardless of the result I will still be proud of each and every one of you.
Record at Quad D Regionals
Trevor Ray 1st Place Individual 5 Wins 0 Loss
Jonathan Kolisz 5th Place Individual 4 Wins 1 Loss
Bryce Charles 6th Place Individual 3 Wins 2 Loss
Joe South 7th Place Individual 3 Wins 2 Loss
These students compiled our top 4 scores which allowed J.B. McNabb to get first with a combined 15 points. The rest of our team was equally important and I want to take a moment to list everyone else with their placement.
Jacob Webb 12th Place Individual 2 Wins 3 Loss
Joey Jordan 14th Place Individual 2 Wins 3 Loss
Quinn Weil 17th Place Individual 2 Wins 3 Loss
Toby Traylor 18th Place Individual 2 Wins 3 Loss
Allyson Mabry 22nd Place Individual 1 Win 4 Loss
Chase Mabry 23rd Place Individual 1 Win 4 Loss
Josh Harmon 24th Place Individual 1 Win 4 Loss
I want everyone to understand that the difference of a single game has a huge impact on the team as a whole. Chess only totals the top 4 scores on your team at each event. However we are allowed a limited number of alternates that replace a lower score with a higher score. A single win seperated 30th from 24th, a single win seperated 19th from 10th, a single win seperated 9th from 5th, and a single win seperated 4th from 1st. As we move toward states our path will be decided by many of these single wins. Once again congratulations to all of my players please keep up the hard work!
