Help Your Child Be Successful!

How Can I Help My Child Be Successful in School?

  1. Read EVERYDAY!  You can read to your child or have your child read to you… either way… READ! Students can check out books in our school library to bring home!

  2. Create a consistent after-school routine.

    • Help your child study vocabulary words for S.S. and ELA (Quiz EVERY Friday)
    • Make sure your child completes 3 AM scans each week. Scores must be above 70% to count!

    • Review Math flashbacks word problems (Monday-Thursday)... Quiz EVERY Friday!
    • Complete any  assignments that were not completed in class on time or homework, as noted in agenda notebook!
  3. Be POSITIVE!  Always speak positively about school, learning, and your child’s teacher. Children need to know you think school is imporant and will lead to successful careers.

  4. Encourage!  Give your child the opportunity to excel in all areas of their academics by providing them with any additional support that may be needed!

  5. Help your student be prepared with materials necessary to be successful in class, as demonstrated on the school supply list.

  6. Be sure that your child is getting plenty of rest each night and is ready for school each day.

  7. Teach your child to be responsible for their actions and to take pride in all they do!

  8. Stay INVOLVED!  Make it a point to ask your child about their day, what they learned, who their friends are, etc.

  9. Communicate… Please know you can contact me with any questions or concerns at: Courtney.sizemore@montgomery.kyschools.us
