What Are We Learning In Class?
Homework: Reading for 20 minutes is an “every night” assignment. Students should be filling out the daily sections in their Reading Logs. These logs are turned in on Friday for a grade. Please make sure your child is keeping up with his/her homework.
Reading: We have just finished taking our first Common Assessment in Reading. Look for your child’s Data Notebook/Folder next week for individual results. While we have several areas from our last unit that we will still be reviewing, we are moving on to our next unit that focuses on text features of Nonfiction literature.
Spelling: Next week’s focus is on Adverbs, or words that describe how, when, or where something was done. Many adverbs end with –ly, but not all of them do! We are also including some frequently used academic vocabulary words in our spelling lists. Students will see these words many times throughout the year.
Math: We have just taken our 2nd Common Assessment in Math on Addition, Subtraction, and 2 step word problems. These results will be in the Data Notebook/Folder next week.
Science: Living Things/Plants
Fall Festival is approaching quickly and we need items for our classroom basket! Our theme is “Family Movie Night”. So far I have received one item for our basket. Hopefully we will be able to put more items inRemember, all money raised from our basket will benefit our students!

Calling all Crafty Parents!!
We have been asked to decorate a quilt block for the school quilt that will be auctioned at the fall festival. I unfortunately, cannot sew on a button, so I am in desperate need of someone who is craft to create our class masterpiece.
Our class would greatly benefit from anyone who would like to come in and volunteer. I have little books that need copying, folded and stapled. I could use help with centers, copying work, filing students work, etc. If you are willing and able to help, please email me and we will put you to work! J
