Monday, July 30th is the first day of JumpStart Kindergarten. Below is the letter Mrs. Toy sent to MSE's incoming kindergarten students. I hope to see everyone there! PLEASE call or email me if you have any questions.
Jump Start Kindergarten
This program is designed to assist incoming kindergarten students in their transition to Mt. Sterling Elementary. Hosted by the Kindergarten teachers, students will get the opportunity to jump start their school year by working with their classroom teacher and being able to meet some of the students they will have in their homeroom. Throughout the week, students will be exposed to the many facets of our school that will assist them with a positive start and enhance confidence on their first day of school.
Student will meet from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. each day. Students will be engaged in instructional activities as well as creative and social opportunities designed to encourage the development of new friends and security in their surroundings. Special guests and events will take place for an additional spark of excitement!
Meals:
Breakfast and Lunch will be served daily at no cost to students.
Transportation:
Transportation will be the responsibility of the parent. Prompt arrival and dismissal are required.

It is our goal to target approximately 12 students from each kindergarten homeroom. Of the twelve, we will focus on an equal distribution of boys and girls. The maximum number for registration would be 72 students. Registration will be handled on a first come, first served basis. A waiting list will be created. Should any students not show up, we will refer to the list to fill those openings.
Upon board approval, letters will be sent out to all pre-registered/ enrolled kindergarten students. Information will be shared with the local paper, school/ district websites and other media outlets in an effort to reach all Mt. Sterling Elementary Families. Jump Start Kindergarten registrations will be accepted until the allotted spots are filled.
