Classroom Procedures/ Expectations

School & Classroom Expectations:
Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Positive,  Be Your Best and Be Present.

Behavior:

In order to cover the required curriculum in Second Grade it is essential that students are focused, work to the best of their abilities, and display proper behavior.

**** For any extreme behaviors such as fighting, stealing, physical aggression or vandalism your child will immediately be referred to the office.
I appreciate your help in reminding your child of this behavior policy and reinforcing good behavior at home. I want your child to get the most out of their time with me and good behavior not only helps your child but all of the children in our class.

Agenda Books and Homework:
All assignments should be written in the agenda book. We will take time at the end of each day to write all assignments and announcements. It is important that you review and initial your child’s agenda book each evening. This allows you to see class announcements and homework assignments. The agenda also helps the students learn to be responsible and accountable for their work. Taking responsibility and becoming accountable are two very important skills that we will work on during second grade.

Yellow School Folder:
Your child will receive from school a red 2 pocket folder. The pockets will be labeled “keep at home” – this is for graded papers or papers we did together in class. “Return to school”- this pocket is for papers that need to be corrected or signed and returned the next day.

Homework Policy:

·         Spelling: Your child will print their Spelling Words in their agenda book each Friday morning for the following week. We will do different activities with the words during the week in class. Please practice spelling the words each evening with your child for the test on Friday. If your child is absent it is his/her responsibility to write their spelling words in their agenda their first day back.

Reading: Students need to read aloud to an adult each evening.

Attendance: Please review the attendance policy in the handbook.

Water Bottles:
The students are allowed to have water bottles with them. Please do not send sports drinks, kool-aid, or soda (Flavored water is fine). We will have opportunities during the year to have these special treats.
