Vocabulary

burrows - holes dug in the ground by animals for shelter or protection

cardboard - stiff material made of layers of paper pressed together

cliff - a very steep slope of rock or clay

hatch - to come out from the egg

searching - examining carefully

island - a body of land

underground - beneath the surface of the ground

confused - to be unable to tell apart

puffin - a sea bird of northern waters, having a thick body, large head, and bill of several colors

puffling - offspring of a puffin

rescue - to save from danger or harm
