Zhu, Shunmei (Scott)
Zhu, Shunmei, who is known by Scott in the U.S. and Mr. Zhu to his students, is a Chinese teacher from Anqing, Anhui, China. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Anhui University. Since 1999, he has been teaching Chinese and English at Baizehu Central School (approximately 1,200 students and 80 teachers). In 2008, he was awarded the title of Star Teacher of Anqing by the city’s Bureau of Education. In 2009, he was hosted by Tombaugh Elementary School to teach Mandarin Chinese in Las Cruces, New Mexico through Teachers of Critical Languages Program, a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, U.S. Department of State.
Mr. Zhu has a big family in China, and he and enjoys spending time at the park with his two-year-old daughter on the weekends. Working through the Chinese Guest Teacher Program, a collaboration of the College Board and China’s Confucius Institute Headquarters/Hanban, Scott is now teaching Mandarin Chinese to students at Mapleton Elementary.
