Principal- Mark Crain
Mark Crain has worked for the Montgomery County School System for more than 20 years, including 2 years as an assistant principal at McNabb Middle School, and 2 years as an assistant principal at Montgomery County Intermediate School.
Mr. Crain and his wife, Sarah, who is a teacher in the Montgomery County School System, have a son, John Mark.
Assistant Principal- Amanda Heaton
Amanda Meade Heaton has worked in the field of education for the past 8 years. She has been employed by Fayette County Schools prior to accepting her position at MCIS. Mrs. Heaton has experience working with a variety of grade levels and served in a variety of leadership roles in addition to her teaching responsibilities including Title 1 Coordinator, SBDM Vice-Chairperson, and Lead Teacher.
Mrs. Heaton received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in School Administration from Morehead State University.
Mrs. Heaton is very excited about joining the MCIS team in her role as Assistant Principal and plans to work to carry on MCIS’s tradition of excellence and high expectations for ALL students. She believes that with the amazing team of teachers, support of families, and 100% effort from all students that MCIS can be the top school in the state.
Amanda Heaton and her husband, Tim, reside in Lexington. They have two dogs, a Westie named Emma, and a Cairn terrier named Maggie. In her free time, Mrs. Heaton enjoys hiking, backpacking, skiing, and spending time with family.
