Student Waiver Forms

As you may be aware, Montgomery County Schools will be adding a fourth elementary school beginning in the 2018-19 school year.  Many of our parents complete a “waiver” form requesting for their students to attend a school outside of their home school attendance boundary, for a variety of reasons.  When possible, we have always tried to accommodate parental requests’ due to convenience, daycare options, etc.  This year, we will review waivers to consider placement outside the home attendance boundary from parents who complete the form ONLINE ONLY

Social Media Rumor 2/22/18

This morning, Thursday, February 22, 2018, we learned of a rumor circulating on social media suggesting that a gun had been brought to Montgomery County High School.  This is completely untrue and has been investigated fully.  Again, the rumor is false.

We encourage anyone with concerns to speak to an adult instead of sharing untrue rumors over social media which does nothing but make things worse.  Please discuss this with your children as well as model appropriate use of social media for them.

Again, concerns should be shared with an adult at school or by reporting to our Montgomery County Schools talk and text tip line at 859-279-4300.  Thank you for helping to be part of the solution in stopping untrue rumors from being shared on social media.

Smile Train Fundraiser

Last year, Jake Mills a student at Camargo started the Smile Train fundraiser to raise money for children who need cleft repair surgery.  Smile Train is an international children’s charity that provides 100%-free cleft repair surgery and comprehensive cleft care to children in 85+ developing countries.  This year, Camargo’s STLP team decided to do the Smile Train Fundraiser as their project for competition, with the help of Jake.  The group wanted to raise at least $500, enough money to cover the cost of two surgeries.  Over the short period for the fundraiser, Camargo ended up collecting $1,555.63, exceeding their goal.

Vote for the Banner of Your Choice

Each school district has been invited to design a banner for display at the 82nd Annual Kentucky School Boards Association Conference scheduled for March 2018 at the Galt House in Louisville. The banners are a very important contribution to the conference, reminding attendees of schools' primary focus -- learning and learners. In order to be displayed at the conference, the banner must identify the school district and depict the conference theme:

"Kentucky School Boards: Adapting and Achieving”

Only one banner from each school district is allowed. We are asking our students, staff, and community to vote for the one that will represent Montgomery County at the KSBA annual conference. Voting will end Wednesday, December 20th at 4:30 p.m.

Vote for your favorite choice.

Special Guests Speak about Perseverance

Camargo Elementary had some exciting guests visit the third and fourth grade classrooms to share personal stories of perseverance. This further encourages students to reach their goals and never give up. Guests included Hopey Newkirk, Director of Pupil Personnel for Montgomery County Schools and Shelly Williams, attorney at White Peck Carrington.

Safety is Our Number One Priority

The safety of our students and staff is always our number one priority. Earlier today, we were made aware of a rumor being shared on social media talking about a student planning to do harm tomorrow at a school identified only as MCHS.

In working with local law-enforcement and other school districts, it was determined that the MCHS in the post actually belongs to another school district in another region in Kentucky. Please know the other school district confirmed the situation had been taken care of last night.

We appreciate those who brought the rumor to our attention. We will, as always after a school break, be very diligent in our work with students tomorrow. Thank you.

TRIBE Day on 8/21/17

Montgomery County Schools will be closed for students on Monday, August 21st, 2017, and this day will be a non-traditional instruction day (TRIBE Day).  This decision was made with a focus on student safety after reviewing our transportation routes and times during the eclipse, discussing possible scenarios with our insurance agents, and monitoring decisions made by other school districts across the state.  The use of a Non-Traditional Instruction day provides a way for our families to best determine how they, as a family, want to experience the eclipse.

Through generous donations by the Montgomery County Education Foundation and Dr. Richard Henry at Henry Dental, all of our students will receive solar viewing glasses.  These will be sent home on Friday with our students along with eclipse-themed TRIBE Day materials and safety information about the eclipse for our families.  Even though schools are closed on this day, students will need to work on the eclipse-themed TRIBE Day lessons at home.  No assignments will require students to view the eclipse as that is up to you as families to discuss and determine if and how that would take place.

Daycare will be available on Monday, August 21st from 5:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Early Learning Center and MSE.   If possible, we encourage our families to try to avoid picking up their children during the eclipse times (between 1:03 p.m. and 3:54 p.m.) as we are unsure how traffic in the community may be affected.

Infinite Campus Moved to the Cloud

The move of Infinite Campus to the cloud is complete. All links have been updated. Old bookmarks will redirect you to the new location. You will want to delete your old bookmark and create a new bookmark.

Parents and students you will no longer need a district code for the Campus Portal Mobile app. If you already have the app it will ask for the district and the state. Just type in Montgomery for the county and then pick the state.

You can download the Infinite Campus Mobile Portal app for an iOS or Android device. Just a reminder the app is only for parents and students to view student grades, schedules, etc. Schedules will be available later this summer.

Operation Registration

There will not be a centralized Operation Registration this year. In an effort to expedite the process of updating student information, students took home a census sheet at the end of the 2016-17 school year; and schools have already updated any information for those students. Registration for students new to Montgomery County Schools or returning students, if student information has changed, will be held at each individual school.
