It's Already Court Day Time Fall Break

It’s hard to believe it’s already time for fall break and Court Day! This month has been filled with so many amazing learning opportunities for our students with more to come this up-coming week. I can’t share enough about the wonderful experience the fourth grade students, parents, and staff had at the 4H Environmental Overnight Camp. To provide these hands-on learning activities for ALL of our fourth grade students is a memory they never forget. This opportunity began at Mapleton in 1999 and is stronger than ever thanks to the hard work and support from our parents, community, PTO and staff. Our fourth grade teachers spend months preparing for this event and as a result we all had a tremendous time this year. From archery, to wildlife studies, to fish-ing, to star gazing night hikes, the educational experienc-es were endless. This event like so many daily learning experiences here at Mapleton are possible because of the true spirit of teamwork. Thank you for all you do in mak-ing Mapleton GREAT for kids!

Hello October!! National Coffee with a Cop Day

What a great first week of October with lots of exciting events, we are looking forward to the activities planned for the next few weeks! Kona Ice will be here on Thursday the 11th. Remember, Friday, October 12th and Monday, October 15th, there will be no school as we enjoy Fall Break!

Mapleton is thankful for the support from our community leaders! On Wednesday, October 3rd, our student Safety Committee hosted local law enforcement officers and support agencies for "National Coffee with a Cop Day." This gave our students an opportunity to learn about the roles each group has with keeping our community/schools safe. Students also had a chance to share the work they do to support safety at Mapleton!

Mapleton proudly introduces Ms. Erin Shillington, our new FRC DIRECTOR!  Ms. Shillington is a graduate from Morehead State University, and has lived in Jeffersonville for the past nine years.  "While having several years of experience working with our community, I found myself with the realization that my heart was to provide for Montgomery County children and the resources they lacked on a daily basis. My goal here at Mapleton is to provide for our families and collaborate with our community to strengthen our children through prevention programs and services that are available. I look forward to working with your children this school year and should you need assistance and/or volunteer information please feel free to contact me at 859-497-8751."
