Vote for the Banner of Your Choice

Each school district has been invited to design a banner for display at the 82nd Annual Kentucky School Boards Association Conference scheduled for March 2018 at the Galt House in Louisville. The banners are a very important contribution to the conference, reminding attendees of schools' primary focus -- learning and learners. In order to be displayed at the conference, the banner must identify the school district and depict the conference theme:

"Kentucky School Boards: Adapting and Achieving”

Only one banner from each school district is allowed. We are asking our students, staff, and community to vote for the one that will represent Montgomery County at the KSBA annual conference. Voting will end Wednesday, December 20th at 4:30 p.m.

FBLA Visits McNabb Students

On November 28, the FBLA chapter 5341 American Enterprise Team visited McNabb Middle School to educate and inform seventh and eighth grade students on financial literacy and fiscal responsibility. Students also learned what it means to have access to a free enterprise marketplace in America. Team members compiled a list of financial related questions and administered a pre-test to see where the students understanding was before the lesson was taught. Students then played the Game of Life and had to make month to month decisions based on their individual budget, including car payments, utilities bills, mortgages, and entertainment expenses. After the game was complete, students were administered the same test and asked to complete it with their newfound financial knowledge. The results of the pre and post-test showed great improvement. The FBLA chapter ensures each year they observe and teach the importance of the American Enterprise system.

Safety is Our Number One Priority

The safety of our students and staff is always our number one priority. Earlier today, we were made aware of a rumor being shared on social media talking about a student planning to do harm tomorrow at a school identified only as MCHS.

In working with local law-enforcement and other school districts, it was determined that the MCHS in the post actually belongs to another school district in another region in Kentucky. Please know the other school district confirmed the situation had been taken care of last night.

We appreciate those who brought the rumor to our attention. We will, as always after a school break, be very diligent in our work with students tomorrow. Thank you.

MCHS and McNabb Drop Off/Pick Up

The areas located behind MCHS and McNabb Middle School are not designated drop off or pick up areas. Those areas are allocated for buses and children with accessibility accommodations. Failing to comply with this may result in student disciplinary action for your student. At no point should a student exit the vehicle in the middle of the street (Woodford Drive).  McNabb and the high school have lines designated to drop off and pick up students. Please take time and exercise patience when following pick up and drop off protocols, which are designed with safety in mind for all involved. TRIBE Day on 8/21/17

Montgomery County Schools will be closed for students on Monday, August 21st, 2017, and this day will be a non-traditional instruction day (TRIBE Day).  This decision was made with a focus on student safety after reviewing our transportation routes and times during the eclipse, discussing possible scenarios with our insurance agents, and monitoring decisions made by other school districts across the state.  The use of a Non-Traditional Instruction day provides a way for our families to best determine how they, as a family, want to experience the eclipse.

Through generous donations by the Montgomery County Education Foundation and Dr. Richard Henry at Henry Dental, all of our students will receive solar viewing glasses.  These will be sent home on Friday with our students along with eclipse-themed TRIBE Day materials and safety information about the eclipse for our families.  Even though schools are closed on this day, students will need to work on the eclipse-themed TRIBE Day lessons at home.  No assignments will require students to view the eclipse as that is up to you as families to discuss and determine if and how that would take place.

Daycare will be available on Monday, August 21st from 5:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Early Learning Center and MSE.   If possible, we encourage our families to try to avoid picking up their children during the eclipse times (between 1:03 p.m. and 3:54 p.m.) as we are unsure how traffic in the community may be affected.

Infinite Campus Moved to the Cloud

The move of Infinite Campus to the cloud is complete. All links have been updated. Old bookmarks will redirect you to the new location. You will want to delete your old bookmark and create a new bookmark.

Parents and students you will no longer need a district code for the Campus Portal Mobile app. If you already have the app it will ask for the district and the state. Just type in Montgomery for the county and then pick the state.

You can download the Infinite Campus Mobile Portal app for an iOS or Android device. Just a reminder the app is only for parents and students to view student grades, schedules, etc. Schedules will be available later this summer.

Operation Registration

There will not be a centralized Operation Registration this year. In an effort to expedite the process of updating student information, students took home a census sheet at the end of the 2016-17 school year; and schools have already updated any information for those students. Registration for students new to Montgomery County Schools or returning students, if student information has changed, will be held at each individual school.
