The mission of J.B. McNabb Middle School is to provide a safe and secure environment that will promote academic excellence, social success, and a lifelong passion for learning for all students. This will prepare students to become productive citizens in a diverse and ever changing world.
|Principal: Paula Stafford
Paula Stafford begins her third year in the district this year. Ms. Stafford brought 25 years in the field of education to McNabb, with her most recent experience as assistant principal for Rowan County Middle School and principal for Morehead Youth Development Center and Sunrise Children’s Services. Prior to that, she served as assistant principal for Rowan County Senior High School. She taught 7th and 8th grades for seven years and also served as Federal Programs Director and Language Arts Consultant with the Kentucky Department of Education.
Ms. Stafford received her Bachelor’s Degree from Centre College. She obtained her Master’s in Education and principal, instructional supervisor, and superintendent certifications from Morehead State University. She also received her Rank I in Administration and Supervision from the University of Kentucky.
Assistant Principal: John Preston
Mr. Preston has 28 years of public school experience with the most recent as Principal of Grant County Middle School for three years and one year as the Assistant Principal also at Grant County Middle School. He was the Vice Principal/Teacher-in-Charge in Elk Grove, California for the Elk Grove Unified School District for the five years prior to his move to Kentucky and taught in Idaho for 13 years, and 5 years in Washington.
He received his undergraduate degree from Washington State University in Physical Education/Social Studies, and was a member of the Men’s Basketball Team. Mr. Preston received his Masters in School Administration from Heritage College in Toppenish, Washington in 2000.
Mr. Preston looks forward to working with the staff and getting to know the students at McNabb Middle School. When asked his vision, he shared, "My vision is that all students can learn and we must have the ability and desire to bring out the best in every student."
Mr. Preston and his wife, Joanie, have four children and three grandchildren. His hobbies include the family horses, Nascar, golf, basketball, and working around the farm.
Assistant Principal: Brandon Richards
Dr. Richards begins his second year in administration at McNabb, this year as Assistant Principal. He previously served as the Dean of Students. This is his seventh year in Montgomery County, previously teaching social studies at the high school, and two years before that at West Point Independent School in Hardin County.
Dr. Richards received his undergraduate degree from Robert Morris University in Human Resources. He then recieved his Masters of Science in Instructional Leadership as well as certification to teach social studies grades 5-12 from Robert Morris University. Dr. Richards recently completed his Doctorate in Education, P-12 Leadership from Morehead State University in 2017.
Dr. Richards was born and raised outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and has a wife, Ashlyn. His hobbies include watching sports, traveling, and being an active member in the community.
