Principal's Message

ROBERT DONALDSON
Principal

Dear MC2 Families,

Welcome to MC2, Montgomery County’s Accelerated STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Academy, as we begin our fifth year in operation.  Located on the campus of Montgomery County High School, we currently have 149 students enrolled in grades 7-12 and will graduate our third class of seniors this spring.  Our mission is to provide our students access to an intense and rigorous academic program that will yield creative and high-functioning graduates who will experience success at the college level and later in their career endeavors and in life itself.

Our middle school students begin their day at McNabb and then walk to the Academy for math (Algebra I and Geometry), science, engineering, and ELA classes.  The students return to McNabb briefly for lunch at noon and in the afternoon for a social studies class, one elective course, and afternoon dismissal and activities.

Our high school students are enrolled in multiple AP and Honors courses, but are also encouraged to participate in elective courses in their areas of interest.  We will continue to offer our recently expanded career pathway offerings which include Accounting, Administrative Support, Animal Science, Digital Design and Game Development, Engineering and Technology Design, Financial Services, Graphic and Digital Communications, and Pre-Nursing.  MC² students will select and declare a pathway prior to the end of their 9th grade year and must achieve completer status prior to graduation.

Our teachers and I look forward to a very productive year as we challenge, educate, and empower every student, every day, as we strive to establish MC2 as the most prominent STEM academy in eastern and central Kentucky.
