As we begin the second half of our school year, it’s nice to reflect on the many opportunities our students and staff have had to grow, and the many successes and milestones they have reached. Many of our extra-curricular activities have been highly successful. I firmly believe that success carries over to the classroom. Academically, we continue our journey in becoming a data driven school using MAP Testing with our 9th and 10th grade, along with a Mock ACT that was given January 11th. Teachers will use the data from these assessments to target individual student needs and needed areas of growth. The following two months will be critical as we prepare 11th grade students for the ACT to be given on March 20. Because of its importance, the ACT is a schoolwide focus and is addressed in all classes. With that being said I encourage parents and students to make attendance a high priority. We will be conducting several ACT Saturday Study Sessions. Tentatively these dates are scheduled for Jan. 27th, Feb. 3rd, Feb. 24th and March 10th. Many of our students will be taking AP Exams in the month of May. Saturday Study Sessions will be planned for those students as well.
Also new this year is the driver’s education program called ALIVE @ 25. Many believe this program will be replacing the previous driver’s education program and will eventually be required by the state. The following dates are scheduled for the classes, and 11th grade students may sign-up during their Tribe Time: Jan. 27, Feb. 24, March 24, and April 28th.
We believe in building strong relationships with all of our students and stakeholders, and those relationships are the foundation of our success. Our mission is to help students succeed and grow. My door is always open and I welcome your interest in making our school GREAT!
It’s a Great Day to be an INDIAN!!
