The faculty of MCHS believes our role as teachers is to act as positive models for our students through collaborating, inspiring and effectively communicating; such an environment will challenge all students to learn at high levels in order to achieve college and/or career readiness.
Principal: Rocky Franz
Rocky Franz joined the Montgomery County School System in 2003 as a teacher and coach at Montgomery County High School. Most recently he served as Principal of the Sterling School and Interim Director of Alternative Services.
Previously, Mr. Franz worked for schools in Georgia and Alabama. He has been in the education profession since 1988 when he graduated from Kennesaw State University with a BS degree in Health and Physical Education. In 1998 he received a MS degree from Jacksonville State University in Alabama. Mr. Franz is married to Meloni, who works at St. Joseph Hospital in Mt. Sterling. They have one daughter, Olivia, who graduated from MCHS and attended UK.
Mr. Franz states that his family loves Mt. Sterling and this school system and are proud to call Montgomery County their home.
Assistant Principal: Robert Donaldson
Robert Donaldson is no stranger to Montgomery County High School, having been a lifelong resident of Montgomery County and serving as a social studies teacher at MCHS for 20 years. In 2014-15, he joins the administrative team as a Assistant Principal and will work with all staff.
Mr. Donaldson attended Camargo Elementary School, Miller Middle School, and graduated from Montgomery County High School in 1988. He graduated from Morehead State University in 1993 with a degree in History (major) and two minors (Government and Geography), and also earned a Master's degree in Secondary Education and a Rank I in School Administration from MSU.
He and his wife, Shannon Oney Donaldson, have two children: Morgan Elaine and Emily Jean.
Assistant Principal: Steven Jenkins
Steve Jenkins is a 1991 graduate of Montgomery County High School and is proud to return home to where his teaching career started. He began teaching Mathematics at MCHS in 1996. In 2000 he moved to Mapleton Elementary as the guidance counselor. He then served for 11 years as the principal at Pilot View & Trapp Elementary Schools in Clark County from 2003-2014. This year he will be supervising 9th & 10th grade students.
Mr. Jenkins earned a Bachelor's in Mathematics from Hanover College, a Master's in Counseling & Administration from Morehead State University, and recently, Superintendent certification from the University of Kentucky. He is currently working toward his Doctorate in Education from Morehead State University.
Mr. Jenkins is the proud dad of Caroline, Kaitlyn, Matthew, & Isaac.
Assistant Principal: Holly Lawson
Holly Lawson joined the Montgomery County School System in 2014 as a math teacher at Montgomery County High School. She then served two years as a Curriculum Coach for the high school and McNabb Middle School.
Previously Mrs. Lawson worked for Powell County High School as a math teacher. She graduated from there in 2004 and pursued her Mathematics Teaching degree from Eastern Kentucky University. In 2012 she received a Master’s degree in Secondary Mathematics, allowing her to teach Dual Credit Math courses through Morehead State University. She received her Instructional Leadership Master’s in 2014, following that with a Supervisor of Instruction Certificate and Principal’s certificate.
Mrs. Lawson is married to Kevin, who also works for Montgomery County Schools and is the golf coach at the high school. Their time is spent with Kevin’s daughter Darcy, on the golf course, or at UK football games.
